Ingredients

3 lbs pork shoulder (also known as pork butt)

1 tablespoon smoked paprika

1 tablespoon brown sugar

2 teaspoons garlic powder

2 teaspoons onion powder

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to your spice preference)

2 teaspoons salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup BBQ sauce (homemade or your favorite store-bought brand)

12 slider buns

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

For the Slaw:

3 cups green cabbage, finely shredded

1 cup red cabbage, finely shredded

1 medium carrot, grated

1/2 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

1 tablespoon honey

Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Spice Rub: In a small bowl, thoroughly mix together the smoked paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper until well combined. This will form a fragrant spice rub.

Season the Pork Shoulder: Generously coat the pork shoulder with the prepared spice rub, ensuring all sides are evenly covered. For the best flavor, let the pork marinate for at least 1 hour at room temperature or refrigerate it overnight.

Slow Cook the Pork: Transfer the seasoned pork shoulder to a slow cooker. Add approximately 1/2 cup of water to the bottom to keep the pork moist during cooking. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours, or until the pork is fork-tender and shreds effortlessly.

Prepare the Crunchy Slaw: In a large mixing bowl, toss together the finely shredded green cabbage, red cabbage, and grated carrot. In a separate bowl, whisk the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, honey, salt, and pepper together until smooth. Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss until evenly coated. Chill in the refrigerator until you're ready to assemble the sliders.

Shred the Pulled Pork: Once cooked, carefully remove the pork shoulder from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board. Allow it to rest for a few minutes before shredding it with two forks, discarding any large chunks of fat. Mix the warm, shredded pork with the BBQ sauce until well combined.

Assemble the Sliders: Cut the slider buns in half, toasting them lightly if preferred. On the bottom half of each bun, place a generous scoop of the smoky pulled pork. Add a spoonful of the crunchy slaw on top. Finish by placing the top half of the bun over the slaw.

Serve and Enjoy: Arrange the assembled sliders on a serving platter. For a pop of color, garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Include extra BBQ sauce on the side for drizzling over the sliders as you wish.
