Ingredients

2 lbs chicken wings

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup soy sauce

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced

1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for an extra kick)

Sesame seeds, for garnish

Chopped green onions, for garnish

Instructions

Prep the Chicken Wings:

    - Rinse the chicken wings thoroughly under cold running water. Pat them dry with paper towels to eliminate excess moisture. This step is crucial to achieving that perfect crispiness during cooking.

      Make the Marinade:

        - In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, rice vinegar, sesame oil, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if you choose to add heat). Mix until all ingredients are well blended.

          Marinate the Wings:

            - Transfer the chicken wings to a large resealable plastic bag or a significant mixing bowl. Pour the marinade over the wings, ensuring each piece is generously coated. Seal the bag or cover the bowl tightly, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour. For deeper flavor, marinate overnight.

              Preheat the Oven:

                - When ready to bake, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup, and place a wire rack on top of the baking sheet. Using a wire rack allows the heat to circulate around the wings, ensuring they cook evenly and become crispy.

                  Bake the Wings:

                    - Remove the chicken wings from the marinade, allowing any excess marinade to drip off. Position the wings in a single layer on the wire rack. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through the cooking time to ensure even browning and crispiness.

                      Glaze for Extra Flavor:

                        - In the last 10 minutes of baking, take some of the reserved marinade (make sure it's heated or boiled for 5 minutes for safety) and brush it generously over the wings. This step will elevate the glaze and add a rich burst of flavor.

                          Garnish and Serve:

                            - Once fully cooked, remove the wings from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes before serving. Transfer the crispy wings to a serving platter, then sprinkle generously with sesame seeds and freshly chopped green onions. Serve hot and enjoy!
