Ingredients

1 cup of pumpkin puree (canned or freshly made)

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled

3 large eggs, at room temperature

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans, optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9x13 inch baking pan by greasing it with non-stick spray or lining it with parchment paper for effortless removal of the brownies later on.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Whisk together until the mixture is smooth and fully integrated. Incorporate the pumpkin puree, eggs, and vanilla extract, mixing until the batter is silky and well-blended.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and spices: cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. Sifting helps to break up any lumps and ensures that the dry ingredients will mix uniformly into the batter.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the sifted dry mixture into the wet ingredients. Stir gently until just combined. Be cautious not to overmix, as this could lead to brownies that are denser than desired.

Add Extras: Carefully fold in the chocolate chips and nuts, if using, using a spatula. This step adds delightful texture and bursts of flavor throughout the brownies.

Bake the Brownies: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly with the spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs attached.

Cool and Serve: After baking, remove the pan from the oven and allow the brownies to cool in the pan for approximately 10 minutes. Then, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing into squares.

Enjoy! Serve your delightful pumpkin brownies warm or at room temperature. For an extra special touch, consider dusting them with powdered sugar or adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
